October? Rock-Tober!!
The pre-Halloween fall festival is a big deal at school. All the lower school kids dress up, they put on a big performance in the gym, and then there are fun and games outside afterwards.
The parents have to get to the gym about an hour in advance to get seats. Then each class parades in, showing off their costumes. Hattie was a fairy witch, and Clara showed off her Carli Lloyd uniform.
Each grade had individual songs to perform (which they had been working on for weeks).
And then the entire lower school does October Rock-tober.
Afterwards we took in the art work in the hallways...
...and off to the fair.

Y Guides Camp Out at Falls Lake
After a summer break, the Flaming Eagles have reconvened for the second year as a Y Guides tribe. The first major event of the season is Fall Outing. We decided to camp out at Falls Lake in North Raleigh the night before.

Wild Dunes and Kiawah for Fall Break
For Fall Break we slipped back down to Wild Dunes for a visit with Ga and Pappaw, and even spent a day on Kiawah with the Shades.
On a beach visit one morning, the girls swapped between chasing butterflies and practicing for their Roctober performance at school.
At Kiawah, we took advantage of summer time warmth (in October) to play in the pool and ride down the big water slides.
