Vacation Bible School 2017

Another year of FPC Vacation Bible School. Hattie was into it this year and was eager for the performance. Clara believes she's aging out (at 8?!). She resisted but ultimately got into the end of week performance. 

It seems we're past the years of listening to the VBS songs on repeat in the car for weeks on end. Yet another sign of time passing and these kids growing up...and somehow Paul (who has always been the one to resist listening to these ear worm songs all the time) is wistful.

Clara's New Soccer Team ... The Spirit

Clara is making the jump this Fall from recreational soccer to the Challenge League of NCFC Youth.  This involved a tryout process and (candidly) a little sweating by the parents. We go from once a week practice to twice. We now have official referees in our games. And rather than parents coaching, we have trained coaches (hi Coach Allen...with Kate as an assistant coach).

So we leave the the Grasshoppers behind and join a team that starts off being called the Kick-Kats but is ultimately called the Spirit.

We don't start practicing until the end of summer, but we go ahead and see what we're made of by signing up for an all-weekend 3x3 tournament at WRAL Fields.

Hattie Wrestling with Luna (and How You Like Me Now?)

This is our Hattie! She plays hard and has fun. Sometimes - in Luna's view - she's just like another puppy in the litter. Another playmate for some rough and tumble.

Hattie still enjoys keeping us entertained with on the spot performances. She heard the song How You Like Me Now from the movie Boss Baby, and she thought that sounded good for a dance routine.

UNC Womens Soccer Camp

Clara and her friends Lillian and Alexi spent this week in the UNC Women's Soccer Camp in Chapel Hill. Not only did they get pointers from some of the best coaches and players in the world, but they got to hang out with their heroes! Clara even got the practice tank top from her favorite defender, Hannah Gardner.

A day of fun and craziness at Three Bears Acres in North Raleigh.

Hattie's Dance Recital

Hattie danced this Spring with Ms. Charlene. And the big finale for the season is the recital in the Athens High School auditorium.

Hattie knew her parts, rocked 'em, and could not have been more proud of herself!
