Denver - Daddy and Hattie's Big Trip!

At five years old, Hattie was finally ready for her big airplane trip with Daddy. Clara picked Chicago a few years ago, and Hattie chose Denver for hers.

It was about three hours from RDU airport to Denver. The novelty of her first ride wore off quickly enough, but good thing we had coloring and videos galore to pass the time.

We met Jason and Ronin Prince at the Denver airport.

We jumped into our rental car and headed for the Denver Bronco's training facility. After an early morning to catch the flight, Hattie zonked out for a nap.

Pappaw arranged a tour with Bronco's assistant special teams coach, Beep Gould. It was during the draft weekend, so there was lots of activity going on. The kids loved it, but the daddies probably enjoyed it more.

Then we drove into Denver. The weather could hardly be nicer. Blue skies and 60 degree temperatures. Hattie and Ronin had helped us find a place to stay on AirBnB. The apartment was called Castle Iris, and it looked every bit the castle part.

We got out to check in on some of Denver's famous city parks and work out some 5-year-old energy. The temperature starting dropping quickly...

We grabbed Noodles for dinner as snow started coming down....

The next morning, we found six inches of snow on the ground and the temperature had dropped to 30 degrees!

But that didn't stop us from enjoying all the foodie cafes and restaurants surrounding us...

And then a morning spent at the Aquarium....

(Hattie loved touching the stingrays....)

And then on to the Museum of Natural History for some fossil digging...

That night we went out to dinner with Hattie's cousins Caitlin and Sara.

Sara is a flight attendant for American Airlines, and since she had to go to the airport the next morning, she offered to pick up up for our flight. We said our good byes to Ronin and Jason, and headed out.

See you next time Denver! Now that Hattie's an old pro at flights, the airport and plane were no big thing.

Y Guides Spring Outing 2017

Another fun year at Camp Seafarer with Clara and the Flaming Eagles. This is like the Shangri-La of camps. So much to do, and not a moment of boredom. Clara could stay there for weeks with her Y Guide friends.

Archery (and she's hitting the mark this year!)....

We run a 5k (we're still learning how to pace ourselves...it's so tempting to go out fast for the lead), but we finished and got the patch!

The girls love being goofy together. Here they practice falling off their bikes (with one of the prettiest backdrops you could hope for)...

At night time, the girls told ghost stories around the camp fire (I'm still trying to find out where Clara heard the one she shared, so it's worth checking out the video)...

And this year a snake guy came in to teach us all about those slithery creatures. The best part was holding the big python at the end!

And lots more activities and fun...
