We did Halloween trick-or-treating in the "Cranchester" neighborhood again this year. Clara ran off with her friends, so we didn't see much of her. So Paul and Kate chaperoned Hattie and her crew from house to house.
Hattie stuck with her fawn costume, and Clara dug out the Carli Lloyd national team gear again.
Hattie is our lone participant in the STS Pumpkin Parade now. She chose to be a fawn for Halloween this year and represented the Dryden clan with gusto.
Here's where the soccer season OFFICIALLY comes to an end...the kids vs. parent final match of the season.
Coach Kate showed up out-fitted in her college soccer gear and ready to play. Her cleats, however, showed what dry rot can do after 20 years in the attic. They disintegrated at the first touch of water from the grass, and Kate was playing with her toes poking out of her shoes.
The Spirit gave the parents a run for their money, making up for our size with their skills and athleticism, and it all came down to PKs.
Coach Kate couldn't help but show off her superior ball placement skills. Notice in the video below how she left-footed this PK in a place where keeper Avery could never reach it.
But Clara put the Spirit ahead with this stutter-step grounder that went out of Casey's reach.
Now we'll take a few months off for the holidays, and spring practice starts in February!
Soccer season came to an end, and Clara went out with a bang. She took most of the team's corner kicks, and we could see her refine her aim with each shot. Until....
She bent one right into the goal from the corner! It was a thing of absolute beauty.
And then for some last action pics on the season....
Paul teamed up with some Bandwidth friends to run a 208 mile relay from Garner, North Carolina to Atlantic Beach. His legs were 5.5 miles, a little over 9 miles and then another 5.5 to finish up.
