Back to the Beach - Emerald Isle

After nearly three months of stay-at-home, people are needing to get out. The North Carolina beaches opened back up to short-term rentals, and six families from Hattie's grade decided to get out of dodge. They went to Indian Beach by Emerald Isle

Clara went along with her friend Lillian Parke.

Hattie Performs "Sick" for Class

Like her sister before her, Hattie chose Shel Silverstein's "Sick" for her end of second grade poetry performance. Covid meant it was all done via Zoom.

Here's the rehearsal.

And the performance.

Quarantine Week 9

School is winding down, and we're expecting the oddest spring-to-summer transition. Hattie's teacher, Mrs. Pfeiffer, invited each student to show up to Zoom class with his/her pet.

We're easing into social activities. Kids just need to see their friends, but we feel better about it if it's in small groups and they play outside. Hattie had Ellie over...

Hattie and her friends have been promoting their business, Garbage Girls, and Hattie got a call from our neighbors for some help. They had a package delivered while at the beach and wanted to pay Hattie to bring it into their garage and put the contents in the fridge. Hattie loves making money!

Clara keeps herself entertained in the backyard with Luna.

Mothers Day in Quarantine

Clara and Hattie were insistent on making breakfast in bed for Mama, and regaling her with all the gifts before she started the day. We made clear that gift number one was letting Kate sleep in until at least 7 am.

The girls abided.

There were no spas open for massages, but we made good use of our relaxing backyard to give Kate a close approximation.

A mother's day song from Hattie ...

"Me and my mom, always together
I don't care when or whatever the weather
I don't know what I'd be without her
So please listen to my words

Me and my mom.
Me and my mom
Don't know who I'd be without here
Me and my mom
me and my mom

She helps me when I'm under the weather
And when I'm not with you I feel so blue

Me and my mom
My mom and me

We make the perfect team and pair
Whenever I am hurt, you are aware

Me and my mom
Me and my mom
Me and my mom
My mom and me."

Quarantine Weeks 7 & 8 - Back in Raleigh

We got to see the Goldens' new place in Hillsborough. It felt like being at Camp in Punxie.
