New Years Eve in Jamaica

 

We also celebrated New Years Eve in Jamaica. Taking in a delicious meal at the Sugar Hill restaurant before coming back to the resort and listening to the Half Moon band as we lounged by the beach.

Jamaica - Half Moon

 

It was 26 degrees outside when we left Raleigh. Four hours later, we were in 80 degree Caribbean waters with 85 degree weather keeping us warm. Our Jamaica vacation had begun. 

We love being cordoned off together, just the family, for this trip. The girls have no choice but to figure out how to get along and be buds. And about 90% of the time they do just that.

Half Moon gave us plenty to do to keep busy. We paddle boarded. Snorkeled. Road horses. Knee-boarded. Tubed. And ate, and ate, and ate.

Christmas 2022

 

In what turns out to be our last Christmas on Lambeth, the girls scored a couple major gifts. First, we got them tickets to see Taylor Swift in concert in Tampa. The surprise came in a big box for them to open with concert t-shirts inside and a printout of the ticket confirmation. As the video below captures, they were beyond excited. 

The second big gift meant getting on a plane early the next morning. We've noticed a pattern each year when Christmas ends. Malaise. All those months of pent up excitement, the culmination of a gift receiving orgy on Christmas morning, then that realization - while sitting with wrapping paper strewn about, all sugared up from desserts - that it's a full year before you get to do it all again. That week to kill before school starts again has been the darkest, dullest part of the year. Last year we headed down to Charlotte for a couple days to mix things up. This year headed down to Jamaica for some sun.
